Program Introduction
The degree program of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) is supported by superior courses which encompass distinct chemistry and chemical engineering features. Environmental Engineering is a key discipline in Shanghai and is even ranked as a top one (Class B) in the city. This discipline boasts of state key engineering labs for the treatment of high concentration refractory organic wastewater, a national research center of engineering and technology for salt lake resources, a State Environmental Protection Key laboratory for the environmental risk assessment of chemical materials on chemical processes, a ministry of education key lab for coal gasification and energy conversion and a ministry of education research center of resource (salt lake) process engineering. This discipline continues to do extensive work in the resources and environmental research fields and has won many national level and local government prizes pertaining to the development of science and technology.

This degree program aims to train master students who demonstrate strong social responsibility, good psychological diathesis, scientific research attitude, and the spirit of innovation and teamwork in meeting the need for sustainable development.
