On June 12, the East China University of Science and Technology International Student Alumni Association founding ceremony was held in the Octagonal Pavilion on Xuhui campus. Alumni and development liaison director Li Jianwei, executive vice-president of CIE Bao Hua, former executive vice-president Kim Weiguo and foreign student alumni around the world attended the meeting.

The conference was hosted by Kazakh alumni Ruan An. Bao Hua first delivered the speech by thanking the alumni for their attendance despite the heavy rain and then introducing the development of ECUST international students in recent years to the alumni. She observed that “For over 10,000 students enrolled in our school for more than 50 years, we now have our own alumni organization established for the first time,” and called it “a very meaningful breakthrough."

She hoped that the Alumni Association could be the link between alumni and ECUST, and the platform for the alumni to understand each other, promote friendship and enhance development, and that the alumni could regard ECUST as their own home and return here whenever they are free.

Zhou Haibo, representative of the Alumni preparatory working group, introduced the preparations for the Alumni Association in China and read out the Charter and list of council members. The meeting considered and approved the East China University of Science and Technology International Student Alumni Associationin China (draft) and the first member list of the Council.

Li Jianwei expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of Alumni Association on behalf of the alumni and warmly welcomed the international students to join the association on behalf of the alumni at home and abroad. He hoped that the alumni could continue to enhance and expand the influence of ECUST, establish a good reputation of "ECUST members" on the global stage, show the good manners of " ECUST members " as well as add grace to Alumni Association.

The first council representative of the Alumni Association Gabon Maulis spoke at the meeting. He said that international students went through growth in life, spent the most beautiful times in ECUST, and had developed a deep feeling for ECUST. On behalf of the first International Student Council in China, he said that he would earnestly perform his duties and actively carry out his work in exploring the ideas for the development of alumni in the new situation, and contributing to the association with enthusiasm.

Finally, Kim Weiguo delivered the closing speech to congratulate ECUST on the alumni association establishment, hoping that international students would reward and grow with ECUST.
