On March 30, Xu Guirong, Director of Foreign Affairs Division of Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore, visited our university, and the delegation was received at Shaw House by Prof. Li Yongsheng, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of ECUST.

Li Yongsheng briefed the guests on the development and the new internationalization strategy of our university in recent years. He hoped that the two sides will continue to promote long-term exchanges, mutual visits by teachers, cooperation in scientific research and other respects on the basis of the short-term exchanges and cooperation. Xu Guirong noted that Ngee Ann Polytechnic attached great importance to the cultivation of students’ international perspectives. And they have established partnerships with more than 20 universities in China, with up to 1,400 students sent to China for study each year. Xu said that they were willing to carry out more in-depth cooperation with ECUST in more fields.

The visit was also joined by Wu Jiaoling, Dean of the School of Life Science and Chemical Engineering, Weng Bifeng, Dean of the School of Design and Environment, Huang Jiyuan, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Wang Wei, Manager of the Foreign Affairs Division.  Bao Hua, Deputy Dean of CIE, Zhou Haibo and Tang Jimin from the International Cooperation and Exchange Division attended the reception.

During the visit, the delegation also conducted in-depth exchanges and discussed new cooperation models with Zhao Shuangliang, Deputy Dean of School of Chemical Engineering and Sun Yuzhu, Deputy Dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, as well as other relevant teachers.

Founded in 1963, Singapore Ngee Ann Polytechnic is one of the five polytechnic institutes established by the Singapore government. In order to provide students with the opportunity to interact with different educational systems and expand their horizons, thousands of students are sent to study and practice abroad annually. There are 9 colleges including business and accounting, design and environment, engineering, humanities and social sciences, health sciences, film & television and media, information communication technology, life sciences and chemical engineering, and interdisciplinary research, with about 15,000 current students. Since 2014, CIE and other related schools have been undertaking short-term study exchange groups with the School of Life Science and Chemical Engineering of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and has received five batches of more than 200 students up to now.
