Principal of DAEGU JOONGANG High School from South Korea visits ECUST

Autumn, with its bright and crispy air, is a guest-entertaining time. ECUST, with its reputation for first-class disciplines, excels in details. On the afternoon of October 17, 2018, ECUST welcomed the delegation led by Cui Zhenran (최진연), the principal of Daegu Joongang High School from Daegu, a city renowned as the “Education Capital of South Korea”.


Faculty of CIE accompanied Principal Cui and his entourage by introducing them ECUST credo, showing them around the Peace Building, appreciating Chairman Mao’s statue, going by the Grand Hall, visiting the accommodation building for international students, passing through the library, and holding the reception meeting at CIE.

 

The meeting was hosted by Tian Ye from CIE. First of all, Ms. Tian extended her warm welcome to Principal Cui and his delegation. After that, she introduced the philosophy and status quo of international education in the ECUST, the development history of CIE and the teaching staff, and the academic life of international students. She also envisioned the prospective cooperation between ECUST and Daegu Joongang High School. Then, Principal Cui gave a speech on the debut cooperation with universities in Shanghai and watched the video introducing their high school with all the attendees. Finally, the two sides had an in-depth exchange on the enrollment of international students and signed a memorandum of admission. In addition, CIE invited Lin Haoxuan, a student from South Korea, to participate in the reception activities in order to enhance mutual trust and cooperation efficiency.

Taking advantage of this cooperation opportunity, CIE sincerely welcomes the outstanding graduates of Daegu Joongang High School, which was founded in the same year as ECUST, to continue their studies in ECUST.


Introduction to Daegu Joongang High School

Located in central Daegu, Daegu Joongang High School and East China University of Science and Technology were established in the same year, 1952. It is a key private high school with 1,295 current students and 120 faculty members at high school and middle school levels. In 2011, it was converted into a general high school, of which the mission is to cultivate high-level global talents. The overriding purpose of this visit is to build a bridge for nearly 300 high school graduates each year to broaden their international horizons.
