Chapter 1 General Principles
Section 1 To encourage overseas students in China to study diligently and positively, improve the overall quality, stimulate their innovative spirit and give full play to their expertise in various fields, and promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign cultures while attracting more international students, ECUST sets up the “ECUST Scholarship for International Students” based on our actual situations.
Section 2 Assessment principles: fairness, justice, openness.
Section 3 Recipient eligibility
1. Comply with the law, consciously abide by the school rules and regulations, with good moral qualities;
2. Be hardworking and study at ECUST for one year or more, and complete the required credits.
Chapter 2 Scholarship Types and Prospective Recipients
Section 4 ECUST Scholarship for International Students comprises: ECUST Comprehensive Scholarship for International Students and ECUST Outstanding Performance Scholarship for International Students.
Section 5 ECUST Comprehensive Scholarship for International Students is aimed at rewarding international students who are hardworking and academically excellent degree students.
Section 6 ECUST Outstanding Performance Scholarship for International Students is aimed at rewarding international students who have outstanding achievements in academics, sports, literature and art, innovation and entrepreneurship, social activities, public welfare activities, and school publicity and promotion.
Section 7 ECUST Comprehensive Scholarship for International Students and ECUST Outstanding Performance Scholarship for International Students cannot be obtained simultaneously in the same year in principle.
Chapter 3 Proportion, Selection Criteria, and Amount
Section 8 ECUST Scholarship for International Students is assessed once every academic year. The number of candidates selected for the “ECUST Comprehensive Scholarship for International Students” is no more than 5% of the total number of overseas degree students. The number for “ECUST Outstanding Performance Scholarship for International Students” does not exceed 5% of the total number of overseas degree students.
Section 9 Selection criteria for “ECUST Comprehensive Scholarship for International Students”: Undergraduate total score = Average score of last academic yea× 80% + Social activity performance score × 20%. Postgraduate total score = Average score of last academic year×30%+ Published papers and scientific research achievements×30%+Supervisor Assessment×20%+Social Activity Performance Score×20%. Published papers and scientific research achievements are scored based on the journal's impact factors, journal categories, and the number of published papers, with reference to the supervisor's opinion; the graduate supervisor score will be assigned based on the student's performance in the lab, scientific research, and group meeting attendance; social activity performance is scored by CIE based on the number and performance of students participating in college activities, contributions to the promotion of school and honors earned for the school.
Section 10 ECUST Outstanding Performance Scholarship for International Students will be assessed on the basis of student’s achievements in academics, sports, literature and art, innovation and entrepreneurship, social activities, public welfare activities, and school publicity and promotion.

Chapter 4 Eligibility and Procedures
Section 12 Application eligibility for ECUST Scholarship for International Students
1. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and doctoral students who have registered at ECUST, and did not apply for suspension, retention of or extension of student status in the previous academic year;
2. Comply with the Chinese government's laws, regulations and school rules; be hardworking with excellent academic performance in the previous academic year;
3. Actively participate in various activities organized by schools and departments;
4. The number of failing final exams for the selected courses in the last academic year is no more than two. Those who have passed the make-up exam may apply for the scholarship. The calculation of the scholarship will be based on the preliminary exam score.
Section 13 Students who have the following circumstances will be dismissed for application.
1. Those who have been disciplined in the previous academic year;
2. those whose number of failing final exams for the selected courses in the last academic year is over two.
Section 14 Application procedures for ECUST Scholarship for International Students
1. Time: start in each November. The specific time is subject to the notice issued by CIE.
2. The following materials are required from eligible applicants:
a. Application form for ECUST Scholarship for International Students (download at http:/)
b. Transcripts of the last academic year;
c. Published proof of acceptance of the paper;
d. Supporting materials for the application of ECUST Outstanding Performance Scholarship for International Students.
Chapter 5 Scholarship Assessment and Confirmation
Section 15 CIE is responsible for the review and post the results on the CIE website and WeChat official account for a week; Certificates of honor and the amount will be awarded to the winning students at the end of the term.
