On the morning of March 22, a seminar was held in the College of International Education, focusing on a dual master degree program between University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka and the School of Chemical Engineering in ECUST. Among those attending this seminar were Luan Weiling, vice dean of the Graduate School, liu Dianhua, deputy dean of the School of Chemical Engineering and Bao Hua, executive dean of CIE.
Bao Hua chaired this seminar and she first introduced the basic situation of our visit to UOM last year. This university is very willing to make a comprehensive cooperation with us, especially in oil exploitation and processing. Bao Hua also suggested that after signing the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two universities, UOM also hoped that ECUST can give them some support in terms of the construction of Chemical Engineering major and its talent training. That indicates a solid foundation has been made for this dual master degree program.
During this seminar, they discussed some details about further cooperation of this dual master degree program, including the cooperation way, division of each college’s duties, improvement methods and visit plans. This program is expected to start in September, 2020.

University of Moratuwa is considered as one of the best universities in Sri Lanka, especially in Engineering. The beginning of the University was date back to 1893 in the name Government Technical School. Also the names were changed to Ceylon Technical College and University of Moratuwa in 1978 gradually. UOM is in the top 300 in the QS Asian University Rankings and ranks third in Sri Lanka. In January 2018, Wu Bojun, the vice-president of ECUST, visited UOM with a delegation, during that period, two sides signed a memorandum of understanding of cooperation and they conferred together on oil processing and cooperative training. In October of the same year, the President of UOM visited us and we had a deeper discussion on the cooperation and training.
