East China University of Science and Technology （ECUST）, located in Shanghai, is one of the national key universities under the administration of China’s Ministry of Education. ECUST has not only constructed a multi-layer and all-directional system for international cooperation and communication, but also has joined the first “Innovative and Practice Program for the Globally Cognitive Talents” launched by China's Ministry of Education.

In order to meet the demand of foreigners from different parts of the world who are interested in Chinese language, and want to learn and experience more about Chinese tradition and Shanghainese culture, ECUST organizes this "Chinese Bridge" online exchange program "Learning Chinese Language, Feeling Shanghai style, Exploring Chinese culture——to discover the perfect combination between tradition and modern Shanghai". The program consists of two parts: Chinese learning and nine cultural activities. Students will study through online live courses, online experience and real-time interaction.

This two-week program is FREE of charge and a certificate of study will be issued for completion. If you are interested in Chinese language and culture, welcome to join our program!

Program Contents

1. Chinese learning: Experienced Chinese language teachers offering instructions and guidance.

2. Culture learning: Shanghai culture experts offering interesting lectures about perfect combination between tradition and modern Shanghai.

3. Online cultural tour and experience: Visiting Shanghai landmarks and architectures, experiencing the traditional Shanghainese food, clothes and theater culture, learning martial art, Chinese painting and calligraphy from professional teachers.

4. Communication and interaction: Face-to-face communication and interaction with Chinese students.

Jan. 3rd - Jan. 14th, 2022, from Monday to Friday

Culture Experience: 17:00-19:00 Beijing Time

Chinese Learning: 19:15-21:15 Beijing Time

Who Can Apply

1. Students from overseas Confucius Institutes.

2. Students from ECUST international co-operation and exchange universities.

3. Foreigners in general who are interested in Chinese language and culture.

Note: Non-Chinese nationality, no age limit, beginners and elementary learners are all welcomed.

Application Procedures

Step 1: Please register and log in at ECUST online application website: http://apply.ECUST.edu.cn.

Step 2: Choose “online application - application”, enter the project code “2021ECUST-CBDO”, fill in the application form, upload a copy of your passport and then submit.

Step 3: ECUST will review the applications. You will be informed of further course information after the application status presents “admitted”.
