1.About ECUST

Located in Shanghai, East China University of Science and Technology was founded in 1952, ranking as one of the national key universities directly under the administration of China's Ministry of Education. The main campus is situated in downtown Xuhui District and enjoys convenient public traffic, which can be reached by Metro Line 15. ECUST possesses 17 schools and colleges, covers 11 disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, art etc. There are 74 Bachelor's programs. According to the Essential Science Indicators （ESI） Database, seven disciplines in ECUST rank top 1% in the world, namely Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Biology and Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Agriculture Science, Computer Science, Environmental Science and Ecology，among of which Chemistry ranks top 1‰.

ECUST has started enrollment and cultivation of international students since 1956. It is one of the official HSK test centers in China. 2022 fall semester, ECUST continue offers Pre-university program for international students, which helps international students improve rapidly in language, major, cross-cultural communication and other aspects. It will make the international students easier to apply for their dreaming universities.

* Application fee is non-refundable, which should be paid when submitting the application materials.

* Tuition should be paid annually at one time at the beginning of each semester. If you apply for withdrawal before the course starts, you do not need to pay tuition fees. If you withdraw within two weeks, 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded after filling out the withdrawal application form and approval; if it is more than two weeks, the tuition fee will not be refunded.

3. How to Apply

3.1  Eligibility

• Non-Chinese citizens who want to study in science or engineering in Chinese university but have not met the undergraduate admission standard yet.
• Good performance in high school and good learning capacity.
• Aged between 17 - 25 years old and in good physical and psychological health.
• With HSK Level 3 Chinese language skills or equivalent level.

Payment of tuition shall be completed before September 5th.

5.  Admission Procedures

5.1  Please follow the application procedures, and pay the application fee. （Results will be coming out in 2 weeks.）

5.2  After getting the admission letter, please pay the tuition fee before September 5th, and send the payment proof （Remittance receipt or screen shot can be used as proof. And online payment need not to upload） to cie@ecust.edu.cn

5.3  After receiving the confirmation of your payment, ECUST will arrange online placement test of Chinese proficiency.

5.4  September 5th - September 9th, school will post course instructions. All the new students should finish registration, and students who participate in the online course should finish testing the teaching platform.

5.5  The class will be open with at least 8 students.

6.  Visa and Accommodation

• About visa

Offline courses: Documents for student visa extension shall be provided after admission.

Online courses: Visa application documents are not available currently.

• About accommodation

On-campus dormitories are not open for application this semester.

• About offline courses

Students attending classes on campus must meet the requirements of epidemic prevention and control of Shanghai Municipality and the school.
