1. About ECUST
Located in Shanghai, East China University of Science and Technology was founded in 1952, ranking as one of the national key universities directly under the administration of China's Ministry of Education. The main campus is situated in downtown Xuhui District and enjoys the convenient public traffic, which can be reached by Metro Line 15. ECUST started enrollment and cultivation for international students since 1956. As one of the official HSK test centers in China, it establishes Chinese language courses available for international students all year round.

2. About Courses
2.1 Program Features
- Different Levels: 6 levels for elementary, intermediate and advanced language acquisition.
- Small Classes: Each class with a maximum of 20 international students.
- Comprehensive Training: Diverse curriculum elements including listening, speaking, reading and writing which are combined together to improve language ability.
- Professional Faculties: Experienced Chinese language teachers offering instructions and guidance.
- Target-oriented Teaching: Enhancement of integrated application of Chinese language.
- Degree Upgrade: Priority for admission to ECUST undergraduate or postgraduate programs.
- Officially Granted: Certificate and transcript (with credits attached) for completion.
2.2 Teaching Format
- Face to face teaching (Offline class): For students currently in China’s mainland or students from countries that have opened study visa application.
- Online teaching (Online class): For students who are overseas currently only. Students can take live stream courses with ClassIn, Tencent (Voov) meeting and so on.

* Application fee is non-refundable, which should be paid when submitting the application materials.
* Tuition should be paid annually at one time at the beginning of each semester.
3. How to Apply
3.1 Eligibility
- Non-Chinese citizens currently in China or students from countries that have opened study visa application can apply Offline class; Non-Chinese citizens currently live out of China can apply Online class
- Non-Chinese citizens hold ordinary passport
- Aged between 16-60 years old and in good physical and psychological health (Applicants who are still under the age of 18 at the date of enrollment must submit the original guardian certificate issued by the Shanghai District Notary Office, and the Guardian must be a permanent resident of Shanghai.)
3.2 How to apply
Please log in East China University of Science and Technology online application website: http://apply.ecust.edu.cn/ for registration.

*Applicants currently live out of China applying for offline class should submit the application before February 15th
4.How to Pay
Payment of tuition shall be completed after getting the e-admission letter.

5. Admission Procedures
5.1 Please follow the illustration of application procedures (Article 3), and pay the application fee. Results will be coming out in 2 weeks.
5.2 After getting the e-admission letter, please pay the tuition fee, and send the payment proof (Remittance receipt or screen shot can be used as proof. And online payment need not to upload) to cie@ecust.edu.cn
5.3 After receiving the confirmation of your payment, ECUST will arrange the materials for student visa(include the JW202 form)
5.4 ECUST will arrange online placement test of Chinese proficiency.
5.5 March 7th - March 10th, school will post course instructions. All the new students should finish registration, and students who participate in the online course should finish testing the teaching platform.
5.6 Students can apply for class change within one week after the course starts. Any group with less than 6 students will be merged.
6. Visa and Accommodation
- About visa
Offline courses: Documents for student visa extension shall be provided after admission.
Online courses: Visa application documents are not available currently.
- About accommodation
On campus accommodation information will be announced later.
- About accommodation
A full refund is available for those who give up enrollment and complete the withdrawal procedures and visa cancellation procedures before March 6th, 2023; no refund after the first two weeks since March 6th, 2023.
- About offline courses
Students attending classes on campus must meet the requirements of epidemic prevention and control of Shanghai Municipality and the school.
According to the development of the domestic epidemic situation, the school may temporarily adjust offline courses to online courses according to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. Tuition fees paid will not be refunded if the adjustment occurs during the semester.
